Wallets and Pineapples

During his time at WTA, Ndahiro Geoffrey earned the cheeky nickname of ‘Wallet Boy’, referring to his first day at school, when the wallet with all his money fell down the latrine, causing a huge drama! To everyone's surprise, it was marvellously retrieved. Better not to know the exact rescue details ... 

Geoffrey was one of two former students, who recently paid surprise visits back to WTA - always a highlight of the day for their 'old' teachers. His ongoing story is that his finances are now in far better order, as he is is now working as a Financial Adviser. Life moves on very interestingly.

That 'every student has a story to tell and every story needs to be heard', is an observation that Charles has been making since the start of WTA's own story. When students leave the school at the end of S4 and S6, it is a sad fact that it is neither practical nor possible to keep in touch with everyone, Of course, it is so interesting if and when they come back to visit and talk about the next chapter.

Another very welcome visitor was ‘Masindi Moses’, (as he lives close to Masindi!), or Akiiki Moses, who joined WTA on the old site, as a quiet, small S1 student. Although he studied diligently from S1 up to S5, he had to leave suddenly, due to a family land dispute. Seven years’ later, Moses is now quite the family man, a father of many small children, a community leader. He works both in local government and on his own family land. He popped into WTA to check on his younger S3 brother and to check the progress of his pineapple plantation near Luwero. We had a good chat, knowing that he will always stay in touch with his former school family.
